Donna Buttrum - Co-Director of Bands - FMS - FCHS -

Donna Buttrum is
the co-director of the Farmville Middle and Farmville Central High
School Bands. She was previously theband director at Heide Trask High
School in Pender County.
Before moving to North Carolina she was an elementary
music specialist in Roane County, Tennessee. Mrs. Buttrum was raised in
Shelbyville, Tennessee, where she was a member of the Shelbyville
Central High School Golden Eagle Band. She earned a Bachelor of Music
degree from Tennessee Technological University where she studied
clarinet with Dan Hearn and had the opportunity to study under such
great educators as Joseph Hermann, Wayne Pegram, and Robert Jager.
In addition to
her teaching duties Mrs. Buttrum maintains her own marching band design
company, entitled The Drill Chick and Associates
(www.thedrillchick.com), which is the only recognized design firm in
the country operated by a female. Her client list includes bands from
all over the southeastern United States. Mrs. Buttrum is also a
marching band adjudicator for competitions in North Carolina. As a
clarinetist, Mrs. Buttrum has been a member of the UNC-Wilmington Wind
Symphony, performing clarinet and bass clarinet.
Mrs. Buttrum
resides in Farmville with her husband, Jerry, the and their son, Landon
Miles. She is a member of the North Carolina Bandmasters Association,
the
North Carolina
Music Educators' Association, Music Educators' National Conference, and
the National Education Association. She
is a past president of District 13 of the North Carolina Music
Educators’ Association.

Jerry Buttrum - Co-Director of Bands - FMS - FCHS -

Jerry Buttrum is
the co-director of the Farmville Middle and Farmville Central High
School Bands. He previously taught middle school band in Pender and
Columbus Counties. Before moving to North Carolina he was an elementary
music specialist in Roane County, Tennessee. Mr. Buttrum was raised in
Sparta, Tennessee, where he was a member of the White County High
School Band. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from
Tennessee Technological University where she studied saxophone with Dr.
Roger Martin and James Spinazzola and had the opportunity to study
under such great educators as Joseph Hermann, Chris McComick, Dr. Wayne
Pegram, and Robert Jager. While earning his degree at Tennessee Tech,
Mr. Buttrum also held many leadership titles, which included the
Tennessee State President of Collegiate Music Educator’s
National Conference (CMENC).
Mr. Buttrum is
an accomplished music arranger, and is an associate of The Drill Chick.
He has been a member of the UNC-Wilmington Wind Symphony, Big Band
Sound, and the Four-Horns Jazz Ensemble performing on saxophone,
clarinet and bass clarinet.
Mr. Buttrum
resides in Farmville with his wife, Donna, and their son, Landon Miles.
He is a member of the North Carolina Bandmasters Association, the North
Carolina Music Educators' Association, Music Educators' National
Conference, and the National Education Association. He is a past
president of District 13 of the North Carolina Music

| Mr.
Ethan Burgess – Percussion Arranger/Instructor |

Mr.
Burgess is currently teaching at Falkland Elementary. He is a graduate
of West Virginia University, where he was a member of the Sudler Award
Winning Moutaineer Marching Band. He was a member of the award winning
Bands Of America finalist Kiskee Area High School from Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. Mr. Burgess has worked as a percussion instructor with
bands throughout the East Coast for over 10 years. Mr. Burgess has a
background with Drum Corps International as both a member and
instructor. Mr. Burgess is both an instructor for the FCHS Marching
Jaguars and Private Music Lessons Teacher.

| Adrian Pollock –

Guard Designer/Instructor |

Adrian Pollock
is the designer/instructor of the guard programs at Farmville Central,
including color guard and winter guard. Adrian attended Laney High
School, where he was a clarinetist and served as Drum Major of the
Marching Buccaneers. He has attended Cape Fear
Community
College and plans to return to school in the spring to pursue a career
as a vocal music teacher.
Adrian is also a
free-lance guard designer and adjudicator. His company is entitled Just
Adrian Visual Productions (www.justadrianvisualproductions.com). He has
assisted numerous band programs in North Carolina, and currently
teaches guard at North Brunswick and Hobbton High Schools, in addition
to his duties at Farmville Central. Adrian fully admits that he is
"self-taught," having never participated in Color Guard as part of a
group, but his guards have been able to achieve a standard of weapon
and flag technique that is superior.
Adrian currently
lives in the Wilmington area, but will be relocating to Farmville in
the fall. He is an invaluable asset to the Farmville Bands, and
encourages his guard members to do their best at everything they do in
life.
